We long to see Jesus this Christmas, don’t we? My heart aches for more of Him. I long to see Jesus in our towns. I long to see Him in the marketplace and online where signs promote sales but avoid saying, “Merry Christmas.” I long to see more of the light of Jesus in the faces of those shopping. Yet, while I long to see more of Jesus in these places, I want to share with you tonight that His presence is shining regardless of what appears dark and missing. I’ve heard him today in the Christmas music I’ve listened to all day. I’ve seen His love on Face Book today in the tender postings over a Ukrainian child not receiving a visa in time to travel to her host family in the United States. I’ve even seen Jesus today in the face of a precious newborn and in the beaming faces of her siblings while they held her. Where have you seen Jesus today?
I pray that we will not wait for the world to show us Jesus this Christmas, rather, may the world see Jesus’ light, love, and grace this Christmas in us. Shine brightly dear friends because if you love Jesus–you are the light of the world!
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16 NIV
