Have you ever felt like no one was listening?  We call out in prayer and we wait on the reply.  Things go wrong at home and we feel separated from the ones we love.  Or someone we’ve trusted breaks the bond with a passing comment that stings like salt on a wound.

This morning, I felt like my voice was heard because an answer came.  It repeated itself like a drumbeat or maybe it was actually a heartbeat.

Unity.

Unity.

Unity.

It’s reverberation was loud, clear, and affirmed over and over again.

I confess, I’ve experienced a subtle air of disunity with my husband the week before last.  There was an undercurrent of an unidentified strain.  I couldn’t put my finger on it so, I surrendered it to the Lord, and took personal responsibility for anything that came to my mind about my own struggle.  I also chose not to attempt to fix anything this time.  I chose to pray, live, and trust that God had it all under his control.

I got out of the way.

And you know what happened?

A flood of answers were unearthed during my quiet time alone with the Lord this morning.  My husband came down the stairs and drew close to my side in the silence.  We shared our feelings side by side on the couch.  Unclear insights were made known.  The tension evaporated…

God was and is moving and working behind the scenes of our lives.  He wants unity with us, unity for us with those he’s given us to love, and unity for his church.

Unity.

Unity.

Unity.

“May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 15:5-6

Do you want unity with God and in your relationships?  My advice is, pray for unity- I think God loves it when we ask him for that.  He always restores broken relationships when I pray for unity…
