My mom and grandma have been going on weekly ‘lunch dates’ dating back to my being an infant! This week was no exception, the first thing my grandma wanted to do after being released from the hospital was to go to their favorite lunch spot- TGI Fridays! She was so excited to have a change of pace from the hospital food. My mom called me early, asking if the kids and I would meet them for lunch. It was spontaneous and rare- but such a wonderful opportunity to encourage and love on our grandma! The table was ready for us before we came and the drink order for my mom and grandma was -no doubt- waiting for them too. Michelle- the waitress- takes such great care of them and is so “well trained” as my mom would say.

As we were ‘feasting’ a woman came up to our table and my mom introduced us. Tina is the manager at Fridays and she was fascinated by the babies. She asked about our fostering to adopt them. Soon after, Tina and I began talking in the hallway. She didn’t realize that “all” of the children were ours and asked about our foster/adoption journey with great curiosity. Prayer and God’s leading was the key in our process and I felt that I couldn’t tell the story without accurately sharing that. She asked about our church and shared about her church backround- then she asked if I would do something for her. She told me that she was organizing the American Cancer Society’s -‘Relay for Life’ @ Lake Central High School on May 21. She then asked if I would consider being on the planning committee. Goosebumps traveled up my neck as I heard these words! After saying,”Yes”. I explained to her why,”I am finishing my first book about my sisters battle with cancer…”

I later shared that conversation with my mom and grandma through tears. God is faithfully leading me step by step towards this book being published. He is so faithful to provide for us when we trust Him! I hope I never stop being in awe of His work in my life and in the lives of those I love.. “And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.” Philippians 1:6
