I intended to get that laundry done today–now the babies haven’t any jammies to wear to bed. I intended to finish the budget earlier–now I’m not sure if we have the money to fill up the gas tank. I intended to save money, spend more time with those I love, give that gift, make that phone call to someone hurting, and trust God more. The list could go on and on.

Life for me, can easily be filled up with good intentions I never tend to or I am tending  too late. My lists are long. Why do I struggle between listing on paper things I intend to do and do something else instead? Why do all my hopes and steps of faith fail to accomplish my plans? Why at times, do I place my ideas and plans before praying about God’s will and plan for my day or my future?

I’m grateful that Jesus didn’t just have good intentions, to save me from my sin, offer me salvation, or eternal life- He actually did it! God reminds me in Ephesians 1:4- 9,”Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. So we praise God for the glorious grace he has poured out on us who belong to his dear Son. He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins. He has showered his kindness on us, along with all wisdom and understanding. God has now revealed to us his mysterious plan regarding Christ, a plan to fulfill his own good pleasure.”

Are you willing to surrender your good intentions for the plans God has already put in place for you?

Today I pray, “Father, thanks for having a plan to save all those who are willing to believe in you. I pray that I will fix my eyes on You, accept Your grace, and seek Your will and plan for me! May my personal hopes, plans, and good intentions fall at your feet. Set me free from them. I want instead Your will done today.” Amen.
